Medical device designers are at the forefront of a technological renaissance. From wearable monitors and implantable sensors to lab-on-a-chip (LoC) diagnostics, today’s medical innovations are more compact, intelligent, and multifunctional than ever. However, as these devices shrink and their performance expectations grow, design and manufacturing challenges multiply. One solution is proving essential: heterogeneous integration (HI). In an article for Design News, Promex COO Dave Fromm explains how HI enables entirely new classes of medical devices that were previously impractical.
