Description: The intern will work closely with the engineering staff to develop new processes that will enable Promex to manufacture new products meeting customer quality, performance and cost requirements. Projects will involve assembly of semiconductor chips, circuit boards, SMT components, other substrates, optical components, MEMS and RF components, using both fully automatic machinery and manual methods. Many involve state-of-the-art products built onshore, particularly for commercial and medical applications. The type of project will depend on the company’s needs at the time of the internship and the capability and interests of the intern. Projects requiring a broad range of skills are underway at any given time. The degree of the intern’s autonomy and supervision will depend on the capabilities of the intern and the nature of the project
Requirements: The intern must be interested in manufacturing, able and willing to work in a factory environment including semiconductor-class cleanrooms, able and willing to do “hands on” work utilizing hand tools, microscopes, power tools, automatic assembly and test equipment. Essential skills include the ability to write, make presentations, conduct online research and utilize Microsoft Office applications. Knowledge of AutoCAD or Solid Works is a plus.
