Business Development Manager – Medical & Biotech
Position Summary: The Business Development Manager will develop medical and biotech customers for the company’s contract assembly services and provide sales support to prospects and customers, both new and current. Promex specializes in building subassemblies that are physically small and incorporate electronic functionality, as well as other technologies such as optical, chemistries, acoustic, etc. This class of multiple-technology device involves heterogeneous integration. Experience with B2B sales, marketing and strategic analysis are important aspects of this position, along with exceptional negotiation skills and the ability to close orders. The ideal candidate will have experience researching market trends, targeting customers, and be familiar with medical and biotech companies. The candidate will also have experience using proven sales methods to locate and develop business opportunities with the goal of driving sustainable financial growth through increased sales and forging strong relationships with customers.
Duties & Responsibilities: The Business Development Manager will build market position by locating, developing, defining, negotiating, and closing business relationships. Prospecting for new customers, recommending marketing programs and assisting with trade shows. Developing negotiation tactics and positions by studying integration of new customer programs with company strategies and operations; examining risks and potentials; identifying and communicating customers’ needs and goals. Preparing and following up on quotations, reviewing contracts as required, working with new customers to set up NDA’s, working agreements, and credit terms. May involve coordinating all aspects of the sales process including fiscal requirements, ensuring customer provides proper documentation for the order to be processed in manufacturing, communicating with customer regarding schedule/delivery expectations and obtaining customer feedback. Responding to customer inquiries in a timely manner. Acting as liaison between the customer and manufacturing. Coordinating with cross-functional teams to determine and ensure on-time delivery. Routinely following up with customers to ensure satisfaction. Tracking sales activity and preparing and maintaining records of sales leads and account status.
Minimum Qualifications: Minimum two years proven success in a related sales or marketing role. An AA or BS/BA degree is desirable. Must be a motivated, self-starter with the ability to adapt to changing needs and work in a fast-paced environment with people with varying levels of experience and education. Superb reading comprehension, attention to detail and excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. Must possess a basic understanding of medical and/or biotech hardware requirements and needs. Must have industry contacts and a history of successfully selling components or services to engineering teams in major medical and biotech companies. Proficiency with Microsoft Suite and Outlook are required. Must be able to travel domestically and internationally.
Key Competencies: Sales/business development experience in the medical or biomedical markets. Strong interpersonal skills and multitasking abilities. Excellent written and oral communication skills with both internal and external customers. Ability to develop and maintain excellent customer relationships. Good time management skills. Ability to use common sense to solve practical problems. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written and oral form.
Preferred Skills: Salesforce or equivalent CRM platform experience. Experience marketing to the medical and/or biotech sector and working in a contract manufacturing ISO 13485, ISO 9001 and ITAR environment.
Work Environment: While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand and/or walk for extended periods of time; use hands and fingers; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear. Indoors, environmentally controlled.
