Promex and Quik-Pak joined tens of thousands of volunteers working with 800 community action programs across the US, in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands to donate toys to less-fortunate children. Promex VP of Administration Yvonne Esquer, organizer of the annual campaign, reports that employees surpassed last year’s generosity, with truckloads of gifts delivered to local collection centers in Santa Clara and San Diego, CA.
Since 1947, the Marine Toys for Tots Program has collected and distributed 548 million toys to 251 million children. Last year alone, 18 million toys helped 7 million less-fortunate children experience the joy of Christmas. The Toys for Tots Literacy Program, in concert with The UPS Stores, raised over $454,802 to purchase quality children’s books. Together with donated books, 1.6 million books were distributed to children and schools in depressed areas. This community action effort will assist and guide children, helping them to develop into responsible, productive citizens.
